Straight answers about visiting Gilgit-Baltistan with us — visas, timing, safety and how our trips actually work.
Most nationalities need a Pakistan visa, applied for online through Pakistan's e-Visa system before you travel. Requirements vary by nationality, so check the official process for your passport well ahead of your trip. Get in touch and we can point you to the right resources and advise on timing around your itinerary.
It depends on what you want to see. Roughly: March–April is blossom season in Hunza and Nagar (cherry, apricot and almond trees in bloom). June–September is the main trekking and expedition window, when high passes and glacier routes are accessible. December–February brings snow-covered valleys and quieter travel, good for sightseeing tours at a slower pace. Each tour page lists its specific best season.
Gilgit-Baltistan is generally one of the more stable, tourist-friendly regions of Pakistan, and it's where our team is based and operates year-round. As with any mountain travel, conditions (weather, road status, altitude) can change, and we plan routes and adjust in real time accordingly. If you have specific safety questions about a particular trip, ask us directly before booking — we're happy to talk through the details.
Both are available. Our listed tours are fixed-departure itineraries with set routes and pricing, but most of our trips can be reshaped around your dates, pace and interests. Use the trip planner on the homepage for a starting estimate, or contact us directly to build something from scratch.
Where the route allows, yes — domestic flights (e.g. Islamabad–Gilgit or Islamabad–Skardu) can be included, weather permitting. Flights in this region are weather-dependent, so most itineraries also include an overland alternative in case of delays. Check the "what's included" section on each tour page, or ask us when planning.
This varies by trip — every tour page has a full "What's included" and "Not included" breakdown. As a general pattern, accommodation, ground transport, a guide and most meals are included; international flights, visa fees, travel insurance and personal expenses are not.
Yes, we require it for treks and expeditions, and recommend it for every trip. It should cover high-altitude trekking/climbing if your itinerary involves it, and ideally emergency evacuation. This is not included in our tour pricing — arrange it before you travel.
It depends entirely on the trip. Sightseeing tours are graded "Easy" and suit most travellers; treks and expeditions carry a difficulty rating (shown on each tour page) ranging from "Moderate" to "Extreme". If you're unsure whether a specific trip is right for your fitness level, ask us directly — we'd rather talk it through than have you find out on the trail.
Yes. Our fixed departures are designed for groups of mixed sizes, and solo travellers are welcome to join. If you'd prefer a fully private trip instead, that's available too — use the "Private & customised" option in the trip planner or ask us directly.
